Allison's earliest memories are of drawing pictures of horses to adorn her parent's refrigerator; art has always been a part of her life.
Formally, Allison's art education began when she was eleven and attended summer art courses in watercolour painting, sculpture, and wildlife drawing and at Sir Sanford Fleming College's Haliburton School of Fine Arts.
Allison's undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies and History at the University of Waterloo was punctuated with both studio and art history courses. At Queen's University, she completed the qualifications necessary to become a secondary school history and visual art teacher, and her first teaching position was as a full time art teacher.
With an eclectic body of work in encaustic (wax) and acrylic paint, mix media collage and pencil, Allison's vaguely surrealistic art is influenced by her experiences in the performing arts.

Artist Statement
In my work I try to give words an image, see movement in negative space, and visualize the feeling a song can evoke. Every aspect of the arts fascinates me, but it is the link between the arts that I find most compelling.
